Hike, be amazed, take a deep breath: Welcome to an alpine paradise
The mountain summer in Saas-Fee/Saas Valley is a season full of variety, relaxation, and alpine adventures. There’s an extensive network of over 350 kilometers of hiking trails, and they wind through green landscapes, past rushing waterfalls, traditional Alps, and fascinating geological formations.
The “Trail of the 18 Four-Thousand-Metre Peaks” is one of the many themed trails in the area. It’s perfect for families and less experienced hikers, and helps everyone experience the impressive mountain world of the Saas Valley. At an elevation of 3,200 meters, you’ll find a 1.2-kilometer circular trail with information boards that offer exciting insights into the surrounding peaks, including the Weissmies and the Lagginhorn. The best part is that it can be completed in just about an hour, and the views are simply breathtaking.

The Almageller Höhenweg is one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the region. The route from Almagelleralp to Kreuzboden treats you to stunning views of the Mischabel group the whole way. The route is clearly marked, but it’s more suitable for experienced hikers.
The Kreuzboden trail is less challenging, so it’s a great option for families. There are interactive stations, a petting zoo, and other fun activities that make it an ideal destination for adventurers of all ages.
The alpine hut hike from Saas-Fee to Domodossola is an especially wonderful experience for experienced mountain enthusiasts who love multi-day tours. Over the course of four one-day stages, you will climb some 3,500 vertical meters, cross two alpine passes – including the Zwischbergen Pass – and even cross a national border. The reward? The views of the Valais and Italian Alps are simply breathtaking, and the feeling of having truly reached the top is unparalleled (not to mention the delicious Italian pizza at the finish!).

Cycling high up in the mountains
Would you rather be out and about riding your bike? No problem! The Saas Valley is increasingly becoming a biking hotspot. With around 80 kilometres of trails, there’s something for everyone! Whether you’re looking for leisurely family trails or a thrilling challenge, there’s a perfect route just waiting for you.
For mountain bike fans, the Hohsaas Trail is a real highlight. The exciting descent begins at an elevation of 3,200 meters at the Hohsaas mountain station and leads down to the beautiful village of Saas-Grund at 1,500 meters. The change in altitude ensures that you have plenty of fun. The route winds it way through the majestic landscapes of the Alps, past imposing glacial moraines, and offers breathtaking views of the awe-inspiring four-thousand-meter peaks around it. If you need a break, you can always stop at the Weissmieshut or the Kreuzboden restaurant.

The Mattmark route is the ideal e-bike route for those who prefer a more relaxed ride. From Saas-Grund, the route takes you via Saas-Almagell up to the Mattmark reservoir, which is the largest earth dam in Europe. The route isn’t too technically challenging, but offers stunning natural scenery and gorgeous views of the high alpine surroundings.
Another highlight for cyclists: the Saas Valley Bike Loop. The 16-kilometer circular tour is an amazing journey that takes you through charming villages, alongside the tranquil Vispa river, through lush larch forests, and past traditional cultural landscapes. It’s the perfect blend of physical activity, nature, and a touch of local history.
Rock, rope, adrenaline – Climbing in the Saas Valley

The Feechi climbing park in Saas-Grund, which is very close to the campsite, has over 30 routes of varying difficulty. This makes it ideal for families, beginners, and anyone who wants to improve their technique in a safe environment.

If you’re looking for a thrill, you’ll definitely find it here on the Jegihorn: The multi-rope route is challenging and technically exciting. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding alpine scenery. Via ferrata fans will also get their money’s worth. The via ferrata on the Jegihorn is one of the highest in the Alps, and it’s perfect for those who love a good challenge! It’s got a 120-meter-long rope bridge, several ladders, and some exposed passages.
Do you want to start small? Then the mini via ferrata in Saas-Grund is just right for you. Accessible all year round, it is perfect for your first via ferrata experience – a great beginner’s experience for young and old.

And if you’re seeking something truly unique, you’ll want to check out the stunning Gorge Alpine: With suspension bridges, cableways and ladders along the way, this guided tour takes you through an impressive gorge between Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund. Adrenaline, nature and adventure guaranteed.
