Saas-Fee/Saastal recently became the first Valais Swisstainable destination to be successfully classified at Level I - committed. Saas-Fee/Saastal has set itself the goal of setting the course towards sustainability as an entire destination.  

Sustainable development is playing an increasingly central role in tourism in Saas-Fee/Saastal. In the Saas Valley in particular, the development due to climate change can be seen and experienced above all in nature and the landscape - the glaciers are retreating noticeably. The destination therefore wants to shape the future together with its service providers and lay the foundations for future generations with its work in the area of sustainability.

For the 25th time, the car park in Saas-Fee will be transformed into the spectacular venue for the Ice Climbing World Cup. The best ice climbers from all over the world will meet in Saas-Fee on 24 and 25 January 2025 to overcome their limits in the speed and lead disciplines and compete for the coveted World Cup trophy.

These exciting competitions make the anticipation for the 25th anniversary even greater: A new, impressive roof extends the climbing area and increases the total height of the Ice Dome to an incredible 32 metres. Saas-Fee is thus once again setting new standards in the international ice climbing scene. Since 2000, the World Cup has not only thrilled the athletes, but also thousands of fans from all over the world who come to experience the unique atmosphere of the event in the Alps.

The mega-hit "Wham! Last Christmas" turns 40 years old in December 2024. The iconic video, filmed in Saas-Fee (Valais, Switzerland), has nearly 1 billion views across various versions uploaded on YouTube. The song "Last Christmas" reached number 1 on the UK Christmas Song Charts in December 2023.
